If you need a Xoom transaction refunded, check out this article to learn when that’s possible and what to do if you haven’t received your money back.
Can I get my money back?
You will be refunded if your transaction is cancelled.
Learn more about how to cancel a transaction. You can typically cancel a transaction if the money has not yet reached your contact. Additionally, transactions may be cancelled by the payment partner or by us for compliance purposes.
How long does a refund take?
The refund process begins after a transaction has been cancelled, the timing can depend on the payment method used:
- PayPal Balance and PYUSD*: Typically available in minutes.
- Credit or debit cards linked to your Xoom account: Typically available in 1-5 business days (up to 10 days maximum, depending on your card issuer).
- U.S. & Canadian bank accounts linked to your Xoom account: Typically available in 1-4 business days (up to 10 days maximum).
- Payment methods linked to your PayPal account: Learn more about PayPal Refund timelines on the PayPal Help Center.
In some cases, a pending charge (authorization hold) will fall off rather than completing. In these cases, you won’t receive a separate line-item for a refund, but you also won’t see a completed charge.
*Note: PYUSD will be refunded in USD to your PayPal Balance only. Learn more about sending payments using PYUSD.
What do I do if my refund is taking longer than expected?
If you paid with a Credit Card, Debit Card, or U.S./Canadian Bank Account linked to your Xoom account
- Contact your bank or card provider: You can reach out to your bank or card provider to see if they have any information.
- Check your statement: Look at your bank or card statement from the period when the transaction occurred, to confirm there’s a completed Xoom charge, but no corresponding refund.
- For card transactions, you may find an authorization hold on your statement—these holds are typically removed within 3-5 business days.
- If your bank needs more information (like an authorization code or Acquirer Reference Number “ARN” for card transactions), contact us for assistance.
- Provide your statement to Xoom: If needed, request a copy of your statement from your bank or card provider from the period when the transaction occurred and contact us.
