When sending a transaction, we’ll ask you for information about your contact and their bank account. Make sure to enter all information carefully to avoid delays. Here’s what you’ll need to know:
- Your contact’s UnionPay card number (provided by most major banks, including Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Construction Bank)
- The entire name of your contact in Pin Yin as it appears on their bank account
Additional information to consider before sending to a bank account in mainland China:
- Your contact may need to complete a one-time virtual account registration. If they have not created this registration in advance of the transaction, they will have 72 hours from the time you sent the money to complete this registration. If they don’t register before then, your transfer will be reversed.
- Your contact must have Chinese citizenship. If you send money to someone who lives and works in China but isn’t a Chinese citizen, your transaction will be canceled.
