How to detect and report a potential account takeover?If you received a notification from Xoom regarding a recent change to your Xoom account that you do not recognize (e.g., password reset or login from a different device), please report it immediately to
reportfraud@xoom.com.
Here are some tips to reduce the risk of account takeover
- Never share your password with anyone
- Create an unusual password that includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters
- Avoid words, names, addresses, and important dates that could be found just by Googling your name and looking at your social media pages
- Change your password regularly
- Set social media accounts to private and limit the personal information you share online
Security measures following an account takeoverIf you suspect that your account was taken over, we suggest you
- Update passwords, PINs, and security questions for all of your online accounts
- Review account details or settings on all online account for any unauthorized changes
- Review recent activity on all online accounts for any unusual transactions
- Contact your bank(s) and credit card provider(s)
- Report the crime to law enforcement
- Research your identity theft rights and contact your national trade commission
